From the Highest Mountains to the Deepest Seas: Understanding Adaptations to Low Oxygen

Wed, Mar 08 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Oxygen is required for survival, but just how necessary is it and what limits can be tolerated in extreme low oxygen environments? A panel of UC San Diego scientists will discuss beneficial responses to low oxygen and the unique physiology of species adapted to life ranging from the depths of the sea to the highest villages in the world. They will also explain less adaptive responses that may occur due to illness and potential solutions.
