Tuesday, March 8, 2022: Women Who Inspire International Women’s Day Celebration

to celebrate International Women's Day with four different inspirational sessions. Tune into live interviews with remarkable women from leading technology, life science, and engineering companies. Sessions will be broadcasted live from Hoover High School with student moderators. Join the virtual panels and submit your questions for our Women Who Inspire!

Women Who Inspire sends an inclusive message about what makes a successful STEAM professional, exposes students to careers and career paths they may not have known existed and empowers them to envision themselves in these roles, and helps students recognize career-relevant STEAM skills.

Join us: Held at Mercado Del Barrio, this event is free of charge and open to all ages!

This inclusive, outdoor community event will take place in the heart of Barrio Logan. Combining culture, science and art, the day will include a mix of student competitions, art displays, live exhibits, hands-on STEAM booths, and more! This is a family-friendly environment where curiosity and exploration intersect creativity and culture. Join us for hands-on activities, competitions, food, and fun!

Sunday, May 1, 2022: North County STEAM Block Party

Join us: Held at San Dieguito County Park, this event is free of charge and open to all ages!

During this outdoor community-facing event, we’ll be adding a little STEAM into a family day out at the park. Join local STEAM companies and community organizations for a scavenger hunt with a twist. Attendees will receive park maps for a scavenger hunt through the park's nature trails, along with passport books to visit interactive activations and booths to win prizes. The day will include a family-friendly band, local food trucks, and BYOP (bring your own picnic) if you choose! Bring your friends and family for a fun, educational day in the great outdoors.

Wednesday, May 4, 2022: X-RAY Vision Isn’t Just for Superman: The Leidos® Experience

A partner event of the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering

Participants of this event will tour the Leidos manufacturing floor at our Vista, California headquarters, where you will have the opportunity to visit four of our educational stations. In these stations, you will have the chance to become a TSA officer, while you operate a ProVison full body scan, a B220 Explosives detector, and a Reveal® Explosives Detection System (EDS) just like those operated by TSA, scanning airport luggage and capturing bad guys. You will then become a Customs Agent and learn the parts of the M6500 X-ray scanning vehicle and watch it deploy before you head south of the border to the Plaza VACIS® scanning system.

Need to know:

  • Every adult accompanying a student must be a US citizen and have a valid form of identification at sign-in the night of the event.
  • In addition, each adult must be vaccinated or maintain proof of a negative rapid antigen or PCR test collected within 96 hours of entry.

Saturday, May 7, 2022: Community Movie Night​

May 7, 2022: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, Movie starts at 7:30 PM 
@ Waterfront Park: 1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA 92101

Join us: Held at Waterfront Park, this event is free of charge and open to all ages!

Join us for a family movie night, with a splash of learning! Families will have the chance to gather together and watch the newly released “Sing 2” at San Diego’s iconic Waterfront Park. Before the movie starts, attendees will be able to engage with different booths, each with hands-on STEAM activities. The theme of the night is “building community with STEAM.”

March 15 – May 15: Classroom Connections throughout San Diego County

​Local classrooms will be matched with local STEAM industries to cultivate STEAM excitement and ignite student’s curiosity through FREE STEAM Kits guided by STEAM industry professionals. Teachers who are interested in FREE STEAM kits and connecting with STEAM industry professionals for their classroom can sign up today!
