SUSTAINING A LOVE FOR SCIENCE
THROUGH FUN DIY PROJECTS ALL SUMMER LONG!
The San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering hosts the Summer STEM Challenge annually, powered by ViaSat with the mission to engage kids in hands-on and inspiring science projects all summer long! The Summer STEM Challenge consists of daily social media posts via Facebook and bi-weekly e-blasts from the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering to our e-mail database of educators, students, and parents with fun "do it yourself" STEM experiments and projects.
Students grades Pre K-12 are encouraged to submit a summary of their DIY project, along with pictures or a video showing us what you've learned! At the end of August, 4 (four) winners will be chosen by the Biocom Institute's Education Committee, at each schooling level (Pre-K, Elementary, Middle, and High School). Winners will be awarded fun "STEM Baskets" with science related activities donated from the Festival's collaborators and exhibitors.
Prizes will include science experiment kits, passes to local STEM attractions, tours of local science companies, and more!
