REMAKE LEARNING DAYS - FREE Virtual Maker & Science Family STEAM Challenge: Alice’s Flamingo Croquet

Now the whole family can get in on the Challenge Island Maker and Science fun! Gather your tribe and celebrate Remake Learning Day Alice-in-Wonderland-style, with Alice’s Flamingo Croquet from our Fantastic Fiction Island. Interact virtually with families from across the county while collaborating, engineering, and imagining your way through a STEAMtastic family fun activity! All you need is a few basic household supplies and a device to log into our virtual classroom. Once registered you will receive a supplies list to go scavenger hunt with and a Zoom link to join the workshop.

SDSU & Cal Poly Pomona 2021 Virtual Femineer Summit

The Femineer program will be hosting a virtual Femineer Summit on May 12, 2021 from 9:00-10:30 PST. Femineer students will be showcasing the projects they have been working on through the year, and a group of female scientists and engineers will be in attendance for Q&A panel with those in attendance. Attendees will also have the chance to win raffle prizes, such as books from Katey Howes, Femineer® coloring books and pencils, backpacks, and the grand prize of a Hummingbird kit. Biz Kid$ Teacher Training Webinar Workshop

SDCCU launched the Biz Kid$ program in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and the County of San Diego, in support of Live Well San Diego, in 2015. Biz Kid$ is an award-winning, comprehensive financial literacy program focused on teaching students how to use credit wisely and about the importance of saving, budgeting, investing and giving back to their communities. The Biz Kid$ program and all episodes are based on national standards for financial literacy and entrepreneurship education, and have been mapped to individual state standards.

Join thousands of North County families for a one-day virtual festival filled with hands-on DIY experiments, live demonstrations, and exciting day-of challenges (complete with cool prizes) that will ignite your curiosity and deepen your love for STEM – all from the comfort of your home.

County of San Diego, Department of environmental Health (Beach and Bay Water Quality Monitoring Program)

Beach and Bay Water Quality Monitoring Program will use a 3-D watershed model to demonstrate how surface water run-of and pollution leads to contamination of our beaches and bays. This impact on our recreational waters can affect our health. Also, we plan on demonstrating the various laboratory processes used for water quality testing in our public health lab, which help identify if the water has microbial pathogens.

County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health- Hazmat

The County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health Hazmat Division (HMD) helps keep the citizens of San Diego County safe from the harmful effects of hazardous materials waste through regulatory programs and emergency response. DEH Hazardous Incident Response team Responds to chemical, biological and radiation incidents. Stop by the booth and learn about some of the things they do, see cool equipment they have, and learn more about dry ice with dry ice bubbles! Careers in science :)

This is NOT your average science event! The Barrio Logan Science & Art Expo is an inclusive annual event that brings together science, art, and culture. Join the Barrio Logan Association, UC San Diego, and various community partners as we highlight science, art and culture in the world around us and celebrate it through a relevant and cultural lens. Some demonstrations include the science behind lowriders, bikes, skateboards, tortillas, brewing, music and more!
