Women in STEM

Postponed

With many of our partner companies issuing new policies around forgoing events, we have made the difficult decision to POSTPONE the Women in STEM event, originally scheduled for March 10th, 2020.

We do intend to host this event in the future, likely in Fall 2020. We invite you to join us then! We will be sure to let each of you know all details for the rescheduled event as soon as we have them.

Women in STEM

Join us on International Women’s Day to celebrate Women in STEM! Middle school, high school and college level attendees are invited to engage with and be motivated by a host of women who have moved the needle in STEM.

"Ferdinand the Bull"

Join the Classics 4 Kids Orchestra at the historic Balboa Theatre Downtown, as they present “Ferdinand the Bull."

Celebrate the literary classic in this musical adaptation of Munro Leaf’s iconic tale and Spanish music. Students will experience this lovable character and his story promoting peace, self-acceptance and appreciation of nature, brought to life by the dynamic Malashock Dance!

These 50+ Minute Interactive Orchestra Concerts are designed for teachers & children in grades PK-6th. Concert content aligns with CA State Standards for Pre-K through 6th Grades.

Mechanical Advantage

Our booth will contain an approximately 6' x 6' foam surface on which a demonstration robot can be driven by program attendees. We will have a robot box that is about 2' x 2' x 3' in which we will keep supplies. We will have a tabletop display that is 4' x 6' on which we will describe our team's journey this season. We are very thankful to be sponsored by Cox.

SYSTRA IBT

Our practicing bridge engineers will share their knowledge and passion for structural engineering, which draws on math, physics, design, art, materials, and construction. In addition to illustrative exhibits, we provide an engaging hands-on model bridge building activity that is designed to introduce youth of all ages to basic structural engineering concepts. Bridge model kits are used, consisting of paint-mixing sticks, binder clips, chains, S-hooks, and large bottles of water for load testing.
